I’m very embarrassed to say, but once you pointed out that it’s a movie about a family communicating, it was so clear to me. I hadn’t even thought about it in that light, now I can’t not see it that way lol. Anyways, loved the podcast, and looking forward to Se7en!
haha, same here, Joe! It wasn’t until I started collecting my thoughts after the second viewing before it dawned on me. Same thing happened with “Annihilation”, which took me three viewings, not that we’re looking to cover that one but it threw me for a pretty good loop before it all clicked into place.
Went into the vault for reccos and ended up with this disc despite hearing your spoilers. It’s an old episode but new for me snd the family communication angle was the hook. No trailer seem ir any kniekesmdge except your podcast.
1) Heard the director say he got the line that sums it up in “Ive always loved you”, from seeing the deaf actress with her family and he knew on the spot he had to steal it.
2) Show the batteries being grabbed! We would worry about it either way, but showing the youngest do what young boys do shows human nature and how can you protect kids from themselves? Can’t pose that question without showing the batteries being grabbed

season 2 subject now at The Supreme Court and seemingly about to get a death row conviction removed. May have to plan a Vegas trip and ask for reccos! Blackjack? Roulette?

1) oh wow! I didn’t hear that story, that’s awesome! I feel like it’s often easy for filmmakers to shy away from ideas like that because you want the best moments to come from your own brain, but it’s really humble for him to see it and recognize that it’ll make the movie so much better.

3) Yess! I listened to that episode yesterday, too, it’s just so insane that they’re in the supreme court! I’m hoping for the best, such a heartbreaking story.
4) Some of my other favorite podcasts are The Dropout, The Dream, Dirty John (oldie but goodie), and Limetown is fictional but amazing.
5) Oh, I think if I were in Vegas I’d lose a few hundred seeing how bad at Hold ‘Em I really am, haha.
