This Week’s Recommendations:
OK, saw BR and despite the movie arc landing a 10 at the end, I never believed I was watching the story of Queen it any band. Forget the rating or it really being Freddie’s story (as approved by Brian Nay and the drummer) they didn’t portray real musicians working together. They hardly disagreed? C’mon now, that was a Disney movie at best. Regardless of their success, their was a few”oh, that’s how that song came to be?”. Their sound was really pitted to America with Killer Queen and yet we get more about Freddie’s cats in an empty house then we do about the actual creation. Best lines were in the trailer and they came off better there as well! There, I said it..,
haha, such a good point about the cats getting as much attention as the rest of the band. And definitely agree, I can’t imagine a band being so consistently cooperative and well-mannered. Even if some of those songs really did come out so effortlessly, it’s hard to buy into it since everything surrounding those strokes of brilliance is also just so easy. Rose colored glasses indeed. That said, definitely enjoyable, especially the finale! What a badass execution of using the live performance.
To be clear, I had to remove my glasses due to tears of joy during the finale no less than 4x…. and to be clearer … it was due to my lifelong fandom of the NHLs’ Washington Capitals Stanley Cup celebration 40 years in the making which is now eternally set to “We Are The Champions”. The cliche of that dies not affect me in the least and Im an anti-cliche kinda dude….
